I got to meet Salvador through a mentor of his; the mentor the one who actually came to me about having the Senior Portraits done for this young man. So I arranged through him to have Salvador meet on the riverside in Golden, Colorado.
He had been described to me, and after hearing a little bit about Salvador I knew this location would be perfect. Then he showed up wearing a cowboy hat; does it get any more "Colorado" than that? I learned this most likely comes from his fondness of Rodeo and watching Bull Riding.
It all came natural to Salvador once we got through some of the first poses, and he let his guard down and was just himself. Salvador being fluent in both English and Spanish, normally I take the opportunity to brush up a little on my rather rusty Español. Hey… when all else fails I do know 'como se dice.' However a certain photographer was also trying to not fall through the ice and snow along the river's banks… a second time.
By the end of our session, Salvador really came through in his photos. A young man with a bright personality, and a lot of confidence. A soon-to-be High School Graduate with the whole world in front of him. A young man who also was very patient with the "hat on," "okay take the hat back off" directions I kept giving him. I imagine he's got to be really happy with Baseball season here, a sport he enjoys playing… as he wraps up the final weeks of school.
Thanks for your time, Salvador. I hope you're as happy with the photos from your Senior Portrait Session as I am!
