I first met Soren and Mi in person, over a cup o' joe several months before their wedding. Though they liked my photography, they wanted to meet in person before 'signing on.' Which I actually encourage meeting my wedding couples for an initial consultation, to meet and get to know one another… and ensure that working together is a good fit for both sides. Soren and I had exchanged a few emails previously, making sure I was able to photograph their Mormon Wedding and the multiple "segments" that they requested to be captured.
Not being allowed in the Mormon Temple, the shots there were to capture the moment they exited through the doors, a common photo that many couples seek at the Temple; and group shots of their entire family, which had been gathering at the Temple as I arrived myself. An early Spring Wedding, it was a clear Colorado day and the blue sky provided a nice stark contrast to the white Denver LDS Temple. And of course the water fountain added a nice feature… and was tempting to many to play in and cool off a little. With such a large family and a great number of friends Soren and Mi also wanted to include their loved ones in the Ring Ceremony that they arranged at Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, Colorado.
As their guests arrived, we had the opportunity to take a couple of the golf carts out for a spin to some of the key locations for the formal photographs of just the two of them. The outdoor ring ceremony at Arrowhead Golf Club provided one of the most amazing backdrops a Bride and Groom could ask for; many of their family and friends commented about the amazing view for this part of their Wedding Ceremony.
Their reception was an amazing compilation of videos, speeches (that brought both tears and laughter from their guests), and a lot of dancing. As the reception winded down, the two of them left for their well-deserved honeymoon (they both graduated from the Air Force Academy the day before) hand in hand. And a special thank you to Soren's sister Krystin for being my liaison for the day, helping gather and coordinate family and friends for the couples requested shots. And for me another wedding was "in the books," as I myself took a moment and reflected on their amazing Wedding Day.
