When I first got the call from Lauren I knew this engagement session was going to be a lot of fun; and one that was right up my alley. She wanted golden aspens and open meadows… and had showed me some examples of the feel she was looking for in her photos. "Aspens" were a definite must have for Lauren for her Colorado Engagement Session, and in Denver somewhat hard to come by… at least in large groves and somewhere that we could get away from the masses. But after discussing some options, we found this perfect spot in the foothills, where I knew there would be tons of aspens in their peak autumn colors. As always the case in Colorado, Mother Nature is about as unpredictable as it gets; especially in the foothills and anywhere further west. Luckily she and her fiancé Scott were able to meet me an hour early… which ended up making all the difference in the world, as afternoon clouds and rain were going to invade our portrait session. Once we met up and got to our first spot, I spent a few minutes talking to them face to face, getting to know them a little… so I could tell their story. As I got to know them the best response was to how they met, and got engaged. "He just threw this ring at me," she replied with a chuckle. I still laugh. Well the location didn't disappoint. And even as the storms were rolling in we were able to utilize everything about the area for a really fun session. Though I'm familiar with this area (and live nearby) this was a great place to get Lauren and Scott out into… for the scenery, and a fun couple of hours. Aspens, check. Mountain meadows, check. I wish them all the best in planning their Napa Valley Wedding next fall… and for all the years that follow.
