I got to meet Rachel, and her mom and step-father a few weeks before her Senior Portrait Session in Boulder, Colorado. As expected there were a number of questions... the first of course, location. With so much beautiful scenery in Colorado, sometimes trying to pick just one can be difficult. But after talking to them I figured a couple different locations in Boulder would work well for Rachel and what she was looking for from her Senior Portraits.
With both grassy meadows and flowing streams, we then discussed briefly what kind of outfits might work best (though I'm no clothier by any means). But outfits that both reflected Rachel, and complimented where the photo session would be taking place, were key in capturing some incredible portraits. Photos that I know her and her mom will cherish for years to come.
We really had a great time that afternoon, even though the weather started to turn on us near the end. Rachel and I developed our own "language" as I stood in the creek down stream (yes, I actually got my feet wet) from her for many of her shots, and motioned to her different ways to turn and pose that looked natural.
With the popularity of Boulder Creek there were some pauses... and photo-shopping out other people, but in the end everything turned out great; and the family dog who joined in got plenty of treats! As Rachel graduates from Regis Jesuit High School in 2017, I know she'll be closing the book on one chapter of her life, and is excited and looking forward to starting the next. When her mom first got to see the pictures she wrote me "What a beautiful girl! Who is she? lol." They grow up fast, I know... and you always seem them as your little girl. Congratulations, Rachel!
